Process
There is a long wait for anything within GE. Nothing happens quickly.
Another thing that strikes me oddly is the power and control of HR. They have more say so than the hiring manager/interviewer over who gets selected, and salary negotiations are pretty much "take it or leave it."
I thought there would be some quick feedback after the interview, but it took three weeks before I had a response with a verbal offer and they asked if I was still interested. Then a formal offer was submitted a few days later.

If you browse a search engine for questions before an interview, it pretty much sums it up. Explain how you have handled a difficult situation, difficult coworkers, integrity, and long-term career goals.

Pros: - Commitment to quality and excellence
- Higher average pay than other companies in the area
- Semi-autonomous work environment
- Excellent training programs
- Advancement opportunities
- 100% tuition/books reimbursement while employed
- No retaliation guarantee for raising concerns
Cons: - Large campus, lack of personal privacy.
- Insurance is horrible (office visits are not a $25 copay; you pay all until the deductible is met).
- Small fish in a big pond; lack of interpersonal relationships you would find at a smaller company.
- Chain of command gets complicated; tasks are re-prioritized frequently.

Pros: You have the resources and options of a big company.
Cons: They are too ambitious in the amount of projects they take on and how much they expect their workers to handle. Employees are encouraged to communicate with their manager about workload, but managers are stretched so thin it's nearly impossible to get a hold of them. When you do and express your situation, you're told that everyone is busy, so just make it happen. The facility in Erie is also run down. It's an old plant, which can't be helped, but a cleaner, more modern environment would improve employee pride for the company.

Pros: Very good company to work for! One of the best out there! Company culture is awesome, with good benefits and opportunity to grow.
I have experienced low-key bullying that didn't turn out to be a serious issue. Once reported, it was acted upon quickly and justice was made. They really take harassment seriously.
Cons: I don't have any downsides in my experience at General Electric Intelligent Platforms. Overall, it worked well for me. I have had a one-of-a-kind experience overall. It's the best place I have ever worked in the UK.
