If you are not about climbing the ladder by manipulating others, espousing the terrible ideas of bad management/leaders, and okay with a general lack of discipline, then it's really hard to tolerate life day to day. I have never worked at a place that put mediocrity on a pedestal like GM. This might change with the newer technical leadership, but I haven't seen anything really change yet.
Find a way to be more targeted with layoffs to remove those who are culturally bad for GM and not the people who actually provide value.
