SummerSoftware Development Engineer Interview Experience - Mountain View, California
Process
After applying online, I was contacted by a recruiter to arrange two back-to-back phone interviews.
The first interview was slightly easier than the second.
Both interviewers called a little late from the appointment time.
The problems were fair enough, but bug-free and clean code would be a great bonus.
Always think out loud and always start coding after the interviewer approves of the method you come up with.
Questions
Two too hard.
Permutation of the alphabet and follow-up is permutation with duplicate elements.

- 2.0Hard for Pay and PromotionSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeMountain View, California, United StatesMarch 27, 2022Pros: The food is fine, and you are able to travel a lot if that is what you want.Cons: Promotion is arbitrary, and the list of requirements is entirely distant from what you actually do. Whether you are already doing the work doesn't indicate if you will succeed at promotion, and any random thing can be used to keep you from advancing.
- 5.0Work with smart people who are willing to share informationSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeMountain View, California, United StatesFebruary 11, 2008Pros: People are willing to share knowledge, which is not the norm in this industry. This is the first place I have worked where the people are great about that. Also, I get to work on cool projects that no one else in the world works on.Cons: A company like this requires a lot of long hours, so work-life balance is often hard to come by.
