Last year, I was treated like dirt by the recruiters and the hiring manager at Grab for the Senior Software Engineer role. I previously posted a review regarding how I was ghosted twice, after wasting three months of my life over multiple rounds of interviews. Soon after, I secured the same position for the same job profile at a different company.

Recently, I received a call from a recruiter about a Lead Software Engineer position. This illustrates how toxic this company is; the recruiter immediately began pushing to know my current compensation. Later, she directly asked if I would provide my payslips before they sent me an offer letter. I obviously refused but agreed to share all necessary documents if they decided to offer me the role. This discussion occurred before even starting the interview process.

The recruiter then refused to process my application further for interviews, claiming it is legal in India to demand confidential payslips from other companies' employees before extending an offer.

If a previous employment payslip is the criteria for rolling out an offer, why are you even conducting interviews, Grab? Just ask for payslips from candidates and make the hiring decision.

Regardless, I will never consider Grab nor will I ever associate with anyone working for this company due to its unethical hiring practices. Good riddance.
