Process

I applied online via Glassdoor and received an email from the senior recruiter. They wanted to learn more about my background and share details about the job during a 30-minute phone call.

The recruiter was very nice and friendly, and also passionate about their work at Guidewire.

During the phone screen, they asked me some basic technical questions. The next step was a 90-minute coding challenge. I won't share any details, but it was actually quite easy. I failed it because I forgot to brush up on my knowledge in those technologies.

I would highly recommend applying.

Questions

Here are a few of the technical questions asked during the technical phone screen:

  • What is the difference between BFS and DFS? What data structure do you use? When would you use one over the other?
  • What is the difference between an interface and an abstract class?
  • What is a closure in JavaScript?
  • List all the new features in ES6.
  • What is the this keyword in JS?
