Salary is not great, project practices can go out the window sometimes. There's a bit of a clique when it comes to some areas and teams, which is hard to break into.
Work on gathering requirements and figuring out what they want their developers to do. Focus less on specific people and more on the overall approach. It seems like there's a culture of the "rockstar programmer" on some tracks and teams.
