I met with Melanie, my recruiter, for a brief introductory call to discuss my interest in HubSpot, compensation, and what the team was looking for.
After that went well, I was given a take-home technical challenge. It had a time limit of 3 hours, and I could use my own choice of IDE/language. Google and other search tools were allowed. This challenge was very fair. It was a real-world exercise that I could see myself doing on the job, and it was challenging enough without being too easy.
After that, I moved on to the final interview stage, which consisted of four sequential interviews:
All of these were fair in their requirements, and Melanie did a great job of laying expectations accordingly. The feature design interview was a unique round for me personally. I wanted to highlight how novel this round was and how much I enjoyed it. All of these interviews felt more conversational and collaborative than stale, whiteboard interviews.
After this, I received an offer later the following week. Melanie was very consistent and transparent about where they were in the process. I received constructive feedback on how I performed in my interviews and then proceeded to schedule a call with my direct lead. They gave me a good overview of the team I'd be working on and some resources I could study in the meantime to gain a good understanding of the project upon arrival.
