After passing the online IPAT test and the review of your CV, there is one assessment centre. It takes one day and starts with a programming aptitude test, followed by a presentation, then an interview, then a communication exercise, a negotiation exercise, and two group exercises.
The programming aptitude test is multiple choice and takes 60 minutes.
The presentation is quite informal with only one assessor present.
The interview is with a different assessor and takes about 45 minutes. Expect general questions such as why you want to work for IBM and how you can demonstrate the skills that they ask for. No detailed knowledge about programming is required.
The communication exercise consisted of a fake meeting and having to compose an email.
The group exercises were puzzle-solving type and discussing business scenarios.
Generally, the whole process was very pleasant and nothing to worry about. You can prepare for the presentation and the interview, but the other exercises you have to take as they come.
