Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

I strongly do not recommend joining or even interviewing with IBM.

This was the fifth time I received a call from IBM for an Android development role.

Four times, I was called every other day and scheduled for an interview, only for it to be cancelled later. On two occasions, I was ready for an interview, and no one showed up. I complained about this, but it was to no avail.

Now, on the fifth call, which came after four months, it was a mistake on my part that I agreed to proceed with an interview. They conducted the interview, which was easy. The interviewer seemed very happy with me. Within 30 minutes, I received an email stating I had cleared the technical round, was asked to submit documents, and that the next step was my PDM round.

This is where I truly understood IBM's process. The person who emailed about clearing the technical round suddenly stated that the positions had been filled. They offered to schedule my PDM round but warned that an offer letter might not be released.

When I reported this to the person who scheduled my interview, she assured me she would handle it and scheduled the PDM call.

In the PDM round, the manager also seemed happy with my profile and assured me that I had been selected, especially after I confirmed the status of the open positions. This all seemed fine.

The next time I called this lady, she informed me that my profile was being kept as a backup and that an offer would be released only if another candidate did not join.

I was taken aback. A reputed company like IBM has such a process?

I can now confidently say that even if you join the company, they might fire you for no reason, and HR will not listen to you.

I had the worst experience at IBM.
