Process

The recruitment process consists of 3 rounds:

  • Coding Round
  • Technical Interview
  • HR Round

The coding round consists of 2 coding questions. Questions are different for everyone. I received a simple question on RegEx and another based on strings (leetcode medium level).

Out of 200 people who attempted the OA, about 60 were shortlisted for the interview process.

This was an offline interview and there were 2 members on my interview panel. They were very friendly and smooth in handling the candidates.

Questions

Firstly, all the basic questions on OOPs were asked, including the four pillars of OOPs, and I answered them correctly.

Then, basic questions from DBMS were asked. The interviewer explained a situation involving a campus recruitment process and asked me to design the outline of a database that could be used for this scenario.

Next, they inquired about stacks and queues and requested their implementation using OOPs principles. Following this, I was asked about sorting techniques I knew.

They specifically wanted me to explain heap sort, and I admitted I didn't know its implementation. Consequently, they asked for the algorithm explanation of bubble sort, which I then provided.

Later, I was asked about my preferred data structure. I chose "Graphs" and explained my reasoning.

They then posed a few questions on Linked Lists:

  • Reverse a linked list
  • Find the middle node of a linked list

After this, I was asked if I had any questions for them. I inquired about the company and their numerous patents at IBM. The interviewers politely answered my questions, and I advanced to the next round.

In the second round (HR), the following questions were asked:

  1. Suppose you have a team of 5 members, and 2 of them leave due to unavoidable reasons just before the project submission deadline. How will you respond to the situation?
  2. How will you react if, at the moment of delivery, you encounter a serious problem in your project?
  3. Why do you think you are a good fit for this role?
  4. Do you have any questions for me?

Although I was not selected for the role, it was a positive experience, especially with the interviewers being so friendly.
