Process

This was the worst process I've ever been through; it was just a mess. I had originally applied online for a software management position.

A recruitment manager reached out and asked what I was expecting in salary. I said $85,000, and they said they could accommodate that and set up a time for an interview.

Before the interview, they sent me an online test to fill out, which included pattern recognition, math, and other IQ testing questions. This took about an hour.

The interview itself was rescheduled twice, with about an hour's notice each time.

When the interview finally took place, the interviewer did not ask any questions about my previous job role or my future career goals. He immediately jumped into a list of programs and wanted to know if I had any experience with them. The interview lasted about 7 minutes.

When it was my turn to ask questions, I wanted to know more about the role, but what he was describing did not match the job description.

He said they were hiring 50 people and there would be 3 months of Monday-Friday travel away from home for training, followed by a 12-month probation period, after which they would decide who to keep. It was a junior role that only paid $45,000.

I told him there must have been a misunderstanding, as this was not the role I had applied for, and I left.

I emailed the recruitment agent back to explain the situation. They forwarded me to a different agent who instructed me to retake the online testing. I told him I had done this already.

I didn't hear back for 2 weeks, and then they offered me a job but did not include the job title or description, saying they'd figure out the details when I got there. It was all a very confusing waste of time.

I can't believe such a successful company doesn't have a better recruitment process.
