Pros
  1. Everything depends on the kind of manager you get. If the manager is good, it's a good place to work.

  2. Flexibility to work from home and on taking leaves, provided the outcome of pointer 1 above is positive.

  3. You can learn a lot of new technologies.

  4. You are truly recognized if you really work hard, and somewhat if you're in the limelight in your team.

  5. Has a set of great architects working onsite, so much to learn from them.

Cons
  1. Everything is manager-driven. It takes at least 2-3 years for them to gain confidence in you if you are an introverted person.

  2. There is recognition but no reward as such.

  3. Not so good for experienced or lateral hires since management is hiring only freshers. You hardly get to learn anything out of them.

  4. IBM hires freshers with good grades but with very less aptitude or no brains, especially the team where I was leading.

  5. If you are sincere towards work, you will for sure get burnt out.

Advice to Management

Don't hire freshers with good grades. Look at their aptitude side as well when you're interviewing them.

Some of them are woefully bad, still they survive and get good ratings, and continue to enjoy the benefits without really deserving them.

Managers need to be technical. It's like they have settled down here as retired developers.
