Pros

The work and working conditions are very reasonable for the wages paid. Work at home is a great incentive that actually improves productivity while increasing flexibility.

Managers generally allow for a great deal of autonomy and trust in their employees.

The means and accommodations when traveling are comfortable (no Motel 6).

The opportunity for promotion and variety of profession is very good.

Cons

Constant threat of "resource actions" that could cost you your job (annual occurrence).

As with any large companies, the processes are so cumbersome as to cause business losses to competitors.

IBM remains the most expensive provider of products and services, but they are likely to survive downturns when their customers need them.

Advice to Management

Improve internal PR with regards to resource actions.
