Pros

The work-life balance is very good at IBM CIC. As the standard of testers was very poor, I could deliver value in fewer hours.

The benefits are good, with rewards from peer feedback.

Working alongside talented individuals in IBM's mainline consulting arm of the business.

Cons

No career opportunities. Within IBM CIC, you are considered a number on a spreadsheet, treated like a contractor basically, with no real leadership.

Processes are laborious and offer no flexibility. For example, no promotions for the first year and a half, even though you've clearly been hired at a lower band than you should be.

Advice to Management

Empower your employees and provide opportunities for growth.
