The opportunity to work on Linux and get paid to do it. It's the biggest company, so I felt that I would have the most opportunity to move up.
Senior management is incompetent, and lower-level workers suffer from it on a constant basis. Also, the politics at IBM are unbelievable. People are placed in positions for pure political reasons.
Promotions are totally uneven, if fair at all. There is a system at IBM that, after a while, you begin to realize is completely rigged.
Start looking at the bigger picture and putting together a clear path for products that customers want, that can go out the door.
