Pros

It was a dream to contract with IBM, to be recognized by the industry leader. $125.00 an hour for a short, week-long project.

Installed a few AS400 servers, hooked up to T1 in an ATT facility.

Professional, and I think they are embracing new technology but holding on too long to the old. But someone has to support it.

Cons

If you're a field technician, you're really on your own. Management in the field has high expectations that you can survive on your own.

Field managers are doing your job and managing at the same time.

Allot of road work, and if you're not in good physical condition, this job is not for you.

Advice to Management

Let go of archaic management styles. Get new personalities and manage more like Google or Facebook. Create an "IP shoot" company to embrace the new software and hardware platforms.
