Pros

You'll work with many great and smart people. Managers at the development level are usually smart, with good technical understanding.

Cons

Medium and top-level managers have very little clue about the modern software business, let alone knowing about software applications beyond buzzwords and marketing slogans. This will translate to unnecessary ongoing crises and pointless, frustrating projects.

Advice to Management

Managing a software company should go beyond writing great speeches.
