Big Data Engineering Interview Experience - Tokyo, Japan

December 1, 2020
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Extremely long and time-consuming for no reason:

  • Call by HR (by a non-native English speaker)
  • Take-home exam (written by a non-native English speaker)
  • Online programming test (by a non-native English speaker)

Questions

HR interview - very standard

  • Why are you interested in Indeed?
  • Why are you thinking of switching jobs?

The interviewer was a non-native English speaker and very aggressive and crabby. They were very rushed and unpleasant.

Written exam was stupid and boring. Not sure what they were trying to test.

Online technical exam was confusing because they asked for solutions that no one in their right mind would do with big data. The interviewer's English was so bad that it took me a while to register what she was saying. She too was really crabby, so by the second or third question, I wanted to hang up since I would not want to work with people that I encountered through the interview.
