Process

Round 1: Karat Interview

  • Was asked to select three topics and questions were asked on them. I answered.
  • Gave two coding problems and quickly came to a solution.

Round 2: Whiteboard 1

  • A graph-based coding problem was presented (DFS approach). I quickly came to a solution and provided the time complexity.
  • The interviewer changed the graph and asked if my current approach would still work. The current approach was still valid. I made a minor calculation mistake while discussing the time complexity for the new graph but corrected it.

Round 2: Whiteboard 2 (Architecture)

  • I was asked about the system design for a Company Review System, where users can post reviews about companies.
  • I asked clarifying questions, performed back-of-the-envelope calculations, and explained my technology choices.
  • At the end, I asked the interviewer for feedback, and he gave a positive nod.

After two days, when I asked HR about my feedback, she stated, "Your interview did not go that well, so we are not proceeding at this time." I asked for detailed feedback, but received no answer. Two days later, I received a rejection email. I again asked for detailed feedback there, but received no answer.

Seriously? You boast so much about helping people with their job search, your work culture, and work-life balance, blah blah blah. Don't you understand how much time a candidate invests in an interview? Or do you simply not care? Have some manners. If you are rejecting a candidate, tell them the reason so they can improve themselves next time.
