Good pay, compressed work week, great benefits, excellent clean room and manufacturing facilities, and job security, for the most part.
Horrible management. No communication. No loyalty to long-time employees. Horrible hiring practices. They care more about making money than making their employees happy, at least on the manufacturing side.
Intel used to feel like a family. New management practices have killed that feeling. Now it's all clinical, which is understandable from a business standpoint, but the people are what made the company what it is.
The new practices will definitely generate more dollars right now, but innovation will die out when people aren't happy to come to work anymore.
I know that at least half of the manufacturing staff, that I was a part of, no longer wants to be a part of Intel, but only stays because of the paycheck. Five years ago, that wasn't the case.
I was let go because of one bad review at the wrong time, after all these years, but I'm not bitter. I was relieved to be done with it. I was one of the people only staying for the paycheck.
Part of my Intel family is still there, and I hope that things can get back to, or at least close to, the way things were, for their sake.
