I was interviewed by Intuit Australia. The entire interview process was thoroughly professional yet very friendly.
I was "found" on LinkedIn and was given several slots to choose from for the initial conversation with the APAC Senior Recruiter. She is easily the best recruiter I have encountered. She described the role with clarity and great detail. She forwarded my resume to the hiring manager, and I was then called for the next round of interviews, which lasted an hour.
I was interviewed by the hiring manager, who is located in the US. This 60-minute video conference interview was very friendly, yet some very insightful questions were asked. I appreciated the ease they created for me.
Next, I was given an assignment: to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) to connect QuickBooks with one of the POS or eCommerce systems. They aptly call this a "craft demo." It took me a couple of weekends to complete the research, the PoC, and the presentation. Throughout those two weeks, the recruiter ensured I was progressing well and offered her help with any doubts.
The final round was about 3.5 hours long. The first hour involved my presentation, covering a bit about myself, my proudest achievements, and the craft demo. It was attended by the hiring manager (US), two solutions architects (one in the US and one in Canada), the strategic partnerships lead (Australia), and the senior recruiter. The questions focused on user experience and my understanding of the challenges faced by small business owners. While they asked pointed questions, they also aimed to bring out the best in me.
Following the presentation was a 30-minute interview with the Strategic Partnerships lead. He assessed my business orientation and inquired about my motivations for joining the role.
The next round was a 60-minute session with the two solutions architects who had attended my presentation. I had to walk them through my PoC code. Again, there were pointed questions, but at no time did I feel grilled. I greatly enjoyed this round, also realizing the depth of knowledge of my potential peers.
I was then interviewed by the hiring manager again. He wanted to understand my motivations for joining the role and gauge my business understanding and architectural abilities.
The next day, I received feedback that they were willing to offer me the role.
The entire process provided me with insight into Intuit's operations and its people. Given my positive interview experience, I had no hesitation in accepting the offer.
I look forward to a fulfilling career with Intuit.
All around the proof of concept I had built.
