Process

I participated in the Code for Good hackathon by JP Morgan as a 3rd-year engineering student. It was indeed an aggrandizing experience.

However, I had no clue that this was one of their mediums to hire new grads. We came across several instances where the mentors would come speak to us about what we were building and talk about the approach we were taking to solve the problem. Little did we know that this was a part of their recruitment process.

The enrollment to the hackathon itself was a 3-step process:

  1. Resume screening
  2. Online Assessment
  3. Telephone interview

After 5 days of the hackathon, I received an invite to interview with them at their office, which was a purely technical interview. I was made an offer to join the firm within a week.

Questions

Online Assessment - Logic-based questions (no programs).

Telephone Interview - Mix of technical and behavioral questions.

Onsite interview - Basic programming and OOPs concepts, database concepts, and familiarity with operating systems.
