Honestly, the most bizarre interview I have ever had. It was during COVID, so it was virtual.
The interviewer didn't ask any technical questions. He was just rambling about one thing:
'Your coworker, who is also your friend, was expecting a promotion. He didn't get it, but he took a new mortgage for a house and now cannot afford to pay it back. What would you suggest he does now?'
I asked if the coworker is my direct report. The answer was, 'He is just a colleague.' My answer was that this is a discussion my coworker would have to have with their manager to establish a performance plan to upskill for a promotion.
Then the interviewer was like, 'BUT HE IS YOUR FRIEND! What will you suggest he does now?'
We literally were talking in circles for 20 minutes. The interview ended shortly after.
Mate, I am really sorry you didn't get the promotion you wanted, but I don't know, maybe talk about it to your therapist.
as above in my description.
