Pros
  • Most of the coworkers are friendly and helpful.
  • Unlimited vacation days, but you have zero accrued if you are let go or leave.
  • Centrally located with good public transportation.
  • Decent work-life balance.
  • Competitive compensation.
Cons
  • so-so benefits (unless you're single)
  • the engineering management team is a joke at best. The root problems are the VPs who care only for themselves. You need to watch your back. Every day. Your job is to please them or read their minds, and not the tasks at hand
  • some amount of nepotism
  • if you have a lousy manager and/or scrum master, you're toasted as the blame will land on you somehow
  • very poor communication among teams and certainly no clear directives from management until it's too late and then some poor soul would be the scapegoat.
Advice to Management

C-level: you know the problems with the engineering management team and chose to ignore them. What more is there to say, really.
