A recruiter from Facebook messaged me on LinkedIn and we had a short phone call about the position. They asked about my experience, why I was interested in Facebook, and my salary expectations.
After that, an interview with the engineering manager was scheduled. It was a one-hour phone call to assess my managerial skills, Python, data modeling, and SQL abilities.
The interview was quite superficial. The questions about management skills focused on how I dealt with problems in my team, how I ensure excellence, and were generally very broad. I wasn't asked about my real experience, success stories, failures, or specific problems I had faced. After about 15 minutes, we moved on to SQL, Python, and data modeling. I answered these questions perfectly without any mistakes.
Two to three days later, I received a call informing me that they would not be proceeding with my application, as they were looking for different experience for this manager role. I'm a bit confused because they barely asked anything about my experience.
SQL: Subqueries, use with DISTINCT and GROUP BY. Medium level questions.
Python: Find substring, find frequency of words.
Data Modeling: How would you model LinkedIn? What would be the tables and their connections?
