The interview had two common parts:

Part 1:

Screening with HR
2x tech online interviews

Part 2 (on-site, but online):

Architecture and design interview
Behavioural
3x tech interviews

Questions

Tech interviews primarily focused on LeetCode questions, which I found to be the most complex part.

The behavioral portion was quite interesting and felt more like a friendly conversation.

Architecture and design questions were straightforward, mostly concerning interface elements, database columns, sharding, and replication.

Pros: Good pay, benefits, and perks, including free food.

Cons: Toxic culture based on performance reviews. They literally give you bonus points if you "generate" or "feed" work for other engineers. They don't value good work, elegant design, or reliable software. Instead, they value the number of bugs and issues fixed. Hence, people write crappy software with lots of bugs and then either fix bugs or, more often, hire another engineer to rewrite the whole thing, and the cycle repeats. No wonder Metaverse didn't take off, and they are laying off people.

Pros: I love working with the smartest people on the planet and problems at incredible scale. The open culture is a bit shocking at first, but you'll get used to it. You are only limited by your own skills and imagination. Having a 6-week bootcamp where you just learn how things work and have virtually zero obligations is a great way of onboarding people. I worked with 4 different teams before deciding what I want to focus on and couldn't be happier.

Cons: If you have worked in the industry for a while, it's hard to transition to FB culture. The culture infra teams try really hard to hold your hand, but there is only so much they can do.
