Facebook recruiting contacted me, and initially, I declined to interview. The recruiter reached out to me monthly for four months, and I eventually decided to take the interview.
I was given good prep materials and spent two weeks preparing. I've been a software engineer since 1995 and am currently employed as a principal engineer.
The interview involved two code problems to solve in 45 minutes:
I answered both questions fairly easily. There was no way to run the code, so we walked through it.
The interviewer was moderately engaged, seeming like he had better things to do. He was video calling from his bedroom with dirty laundry everywhere.
A few days later, I was told that my performance did not warrant progression to the next interview stage, with no feedback given. Subsequently, I was sent an email asking what other positions I might be interested in, but the link was broken.
Overall, I must say that in a lifetime of probably 100 or more interviews, this stands out as the most negative experience of the bunch.
