I applied through a recruiter and interviewed at Facebook (Menlo Park, CA) in July 2017.
I was contacted by a recruiter via email. He then called me to learn about my background and experience and scheduled a phone interview with a Facebook Engineer. The initial phone screen was straightforward and not difficult; I was able to solve all the problems.
The next day, I received an email from the recruiter for a quick chat. During the call, I was told they wished to continue the process, and a second phone interview was scheduled.
The second phone interview was also easy, and I solved the problem quickly. As before, the recruiter contacted me almost immediately and scheduled an on-site interview at Menlo Park, CA.
The on-site interviews were very intense. The questions were tough, but the interviewers at FB are friendly and try to help you succeed. I underestimated the system design round, and that was my biggest mistake. All in all, the whole experience was amazing. I have been to many interviews before, but the way Facebook conducts them is awesome.
