Extremely stressful. It forces you to go into promotion, or you will be out of the company. 70% of the employees are under 30s. The culture is spinning around them, not senior folks. They implicitly want to get rid of you if you cannot pull up into management when you reach your big 40s.
There are many types of SWE. Fitting all of the tools engineer, release engineer, and performance engineers into the same SWE interview, you are setting yourself up for failure because you are not hiring the right people for the right skill.
