Cloud Solution Architect Interview Experience

Process

I am not in the market or looking for employment, as I am a private consultant and have been for over 5 years. A recruiter called and convinced me to interview the following week, stating it was for the final interviews and a decision would be made quickly. I accepted and interviewed.

The interview did not seem serious from the start. Three people interviewed me, each for between 20 and 35 minutes, with not many questions asked. There was no interview by the hiring manager.

I sensed this was a waste of time. They probably already had someone to give the job to and wanted to stage some fake interviews for their internal auditing process. This is shameful, as it plays on people's emotions and expectations and shows no respect or regard.

Questions

The questions were general about experience in the Microsoft Cloud, unlike the Microsoft interview questions I was used to from 18 years ago when I joined the company. At that time, I had three waves of interviews over three days. In one of these waves, I was flown to Redmond to meet with six people on the team I later joined. It's so sad to see Microsoft change the way it did!
