Process

Applied for a position within the SQL Server group.

Had two phone screen interviews with test engineers. The questions were all technical, focusing on object-oriented programming and SQL.

Within two days, I received an invitation for a full-day on-site interview, starting from 8 AM to 5 PM, including lunch interviews.

This involved:

Four interviews with engineers/architects
Two interviews with managers

Again, these were typical programming interview questions, SQL, and database-related questions, for example, demonstrating different types of join implementations.

Pros: They are one of the best companies in the world, so you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best brains in the industry. Their pay and benefits are decent.

Cons: This is already a grown-up place, and so they did not need people for the long run in the Bangalore setup. Every quarter, they screw some people for no reason because work has not moved from the US to Bangalore as yet. If you allow me to say something about the MS Bangalore culture, then it is just a big boss culture where people get nominated and evacuated from the house every quarter.
