Process
It was a campus hiring event. There were 2 written tests, followed by 4 technical interviews.
The interviewers were very cool guys and helped me during the interviews as well. They even gave you hints if you got stuck.
Questions
- Data structure and algorithmic questions (mostly found on GFG).
- OS concepts, DBMS.
- No questions on networking.
- Few design questions.
i) Find the number of connected components in an undirected graph. ii) Generate all valid parentheses using n open and close braces. iii) Questions on prime number generation and processing. iv) Processes in OS (full details). v) A design question on a college student management system and a few queries on them.

Pros: 1. It will give you flexibility to work in your own way and with your passion.
2. Good work-life balance.
3. You get lots of company shares whose value increases rapidly.
4. Managers will take care of your interests and working way.
Cons: 1. Basic salary is too low for an SDE1 and SDE2, when compared to most similar companies in the market.
2. Some teams are still using outdated interfaces and technologies for work.
3. SDE1s need to have more ownership to sharpen their skills.

Pros: - smart people in lots of places
- very good benefits
- good salary
- career-wise it is clear where to go, not clear how to get there though
Cons: - Senior leadership of the company does not seem to know how to move beyond Windows/Office.
- Many places in the company are very heavy on process. Process is actually celebrated as a great thing, sometimes to the point of losing sight that the only thing that matters is shipping great products.
- Microsoft bubble: very inward-looking. Most people have low awareness of what happens in the rest of the world in terms of new technologies, platforms, languages, innovations, etc. It is true that Microsoft creates its own gravity field, but still.
- Promotions, especially at senior levels, require a lot of political skill.

Pros: Lot of experienced, highly professional coders.
A great place to learn.
Cons: It gets a bit hectic at times when nearing releases, but it's fun in a way.
