Process

I was contacted by a Microsoft recruiter in early February of 2007. She said she found my CV on the MS website and wanted an updated version of it. I sent it.

After two weeks, she scheduled a phone interview.

The phone interview consisted of several questions, both technical and non-technical. A sample non-technical question was: "How many balloons would fit into the room you are in right now?" ... typical Microsoft questions.

They sent me a message stating I had passed the phone interview and asked if I would agree to a full-day interview in Copenhagen, with all expenses paid. Of course, I said yes.

I arrived in Copenhagen on a chilly February day and checked into a hotel close to the MDCC (Microsoft Development Center Copenhagen) campus.

At this point, I must tell you that this campus is NOT in Copenhagen; it is located about 30 km north in a quiet suburb. Right now, I live in the center of Copenhagen, and it takes almost a full hour to reach the campus by public transport (don't even think of getting a car in Denmark – the tax on it is 180% of its value).

Anyway, the actual interview went okay. First, there were the HR people who asked me general questions, such as "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" and so on. Then followed 4 managers from different teams. Most of them asked technical programming questions and questions related to testing (I had applied for an SDE in Test position).

Overall, I think the interview went fine.
