Applied through campus recruiting.
There was one telephonic round, followed by five onsite rounds.
The interview included solving one coding question and then testing it. It focused more on how I would test the code and debug it.
Questions
Merge two sorted linked lists. The merged list should also be sorted.
Compact a string, i.e., remove spaces.
Traverse a linked list containing char* as data. Include test cases for this.
Reverse a string. Include test cases for this.
Remove all given characters from a string.

Pros: There are many opportunities to move around within the company, and you are encouraged to move around if you are unhappy.
Compensation/benefits are very good; I've never had any complaints there.
Cons: It's a very corporate culture. To make a real impact on a product's vision, you have to wade through multiple levels of middle management first.

Pros: Good benefits.
Reputed brand.
Easier to get a job in it when compared to Yahoo, Google, and other great companies.
Cons: May not suit all kinds of people. Is not a place for geeks.
In order to advance at Microsoft, an engineer would need 80% HR skills and 20% technical skills.
Most of the people who work here are oblivious of the outside world and are still in the same set of mind as it was 25 years ago.
Creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and analytical thinking are neither encouraged nor valued.

Pros: - Working with smart people.
- Fun events on campus.
- Capable hardware.
- Own office.
Cons: - Luck of the draw with managers. I unfortunately have an inexperienced manager who changes expectations of me on a weekly basis. Some expectations are way off the mark, more in line with one who has been at the company for several years.
- Lots of internal tools with no documentation.
- No formal training to get up to speed. Expected to just learn things on the fly. This would be fine if things were documented better. Onboarding process varies with teams.
