Software Engineer Interview Experience - Czech Republic

January 1, 2024
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

The interview process included:

  • A first short interview with a recruiter.
  • A second interview with the team manager.
  • A third interview block, which was four hours long, with various individuals from different locations, including an engineer, a manager, and a product owner. All interviews were conducted remotely via Teams.

A week after the final interview block, I received a rejection email. A week after that, I received another email stating the first email was a mistake and I was actually moving forward. After chasing down the recruiters for clarification, I was told that the second email was a mistake and I was not getting an offer. It was a real emotional rollercoaster for those two weeks.

Microsoft is aggressively hiring in Prague to move roles to a cheaper market. I guess with the volume of candidates they are managing at the moment, they really dropped the ball with how they handled my case. It was a very frustrating experience.
