The interview process began with a remote phone round. This round featured odd questions, including brain teasers and inquiries about favorite Microsoft products. The interviewer did not seem technical and appeared to be transcribing my responses for a technical reviewer. The onsite portion consisted of 5-6 consecutive interviews. Microsoft stated that new grad positions are general and the specific team is irrelevant; however, this was not my experience. I interviewed with a cloud team and was asked purely distributed systems/networking questions for over half of my interviews. While I was prepared for these due to previous experience, this may not be the case for all new grad candidates. Everyone in HR was fast and friendly, and I enjoyed speaking with all the engineers.
