Software Engineer University Grad Interview Experience - Redmond, Washington

Process

The interview process included a phone screen with a recruiter and four technical interviews on site.

The phone screen was mostly behavioral. When a technical question was asked, the recruiter simply wrote down the answer with no follow-up questions. For example, the question "what is the most complex algorithm you've implemented?" was posed. They also asked a brain teaser (the 3, 5, 8-gallon water jug problem), which I did not complete.

The on-site portion consisted of four 45-minute interviews, each divided equally between behavioral questions and white-boarding. These interviews covered:

  • One design problem
  • One generic C programming problem
  • Two typical algorithm questions

There was a 15-minute break between interviews.
