Pros

Benefits are good. Somewhat stable if you follow a right manager. Smart people if you are lucky.

Cons

The review system makes no sense. I needed to do reviews for my reports. The system has no way of promoting collaborations. Internal competition is normal.

Upper management does not know what they are doing.

Advice to Management

One of management's jobs is to help your reports to grow.

Careful setting of the tone, direction, and organizational structure is important.
