Pros
  • Access to many bright people who are good to work with.
  • Speaker series where external speakers on all kinds of topics come is great.
  • Library service is amazing. See something you want to check out on the web? Have it delivered to your office.
  • Very interesting things are going on in research, and Tech Fest lets you see what's going on.
  • Resources for getting your work done are excellent.
Cons

This is not a good place to become a senior developer. Once you have hit your stride in your level, even though you are productive, you will become devalued because you are not on a promotion track any longer.

We can't all become VPs, so at some point you'll find your equilibrium. This will significantly impact your financial rewards and eventually make it difficult for you to move around in the company.

Advice to Management

The next big thing always seems to be coming from outside of the company. We are too invested in the past to make progress in the future.
