Pros

The benefits are still pretty good, although not as good as they used to be. Being able to get access to and work with the wide array of Microsoft products is a huge plus. Most groups still have separate offices for each employee.

Cons

There's a saying at Microsoft called "licking the cookie," where one group claims ownership of a product without actually working on it. It probably happens at most large companies, but it's definitely prevalent at Microsoft.

Advice to Management

Instead of obscenely overpaying to acquire other companies, spend the resources to improve the internal groups that are already working on that product.
