Pros

You get to learn a lot early on. A 9-to-5 job will usually see you achieve or exceed at Microsoft. Work-life balance is great.

Cons

Beyond senior onwards, soft skills are more important than raw talent. There can be lots of politics depending on the team you join. Try to stay away from consumer-facing teams. Microsoft won't continue to be a consumer company in the future.

Advice to Management

There is too much politics. Managers tend to keep a few engineers close, and everyone grows together. I have seen people get promoted to principal who are horrible in design, only because they are able to use their soft skills well.
