Pros
  • Great benefits for the standards of living in Nairobi. You are paid a good basic salary, stock grants, fuel allowance, and more.

  • You get to work with brilliant minds across the globe, and the learning never stops.

  • If you are lucky, you can get to participate in global Microsoft-funded events.

Cons

You may not have your skills well aligned with the team's charter, as often you have no say on what team you land on. So, you have to be able to wade in the mud before you swim.

Some managers lack accountability, and politics is rife. You have to protect yourself intentionally; otherwise, you will never grow.

ADC is not highly prioritized with high-quality work at this time (2025) for many teams. So, if you want fast growth and opportunities to take you to the top levels, keep this in mind.

Advice to Management

Some local bosses are struggling in their role as engineering managers, and it's having profound effects on the careers of others and the overall success of the site. Better recruiting should be done.
