Software Developer Interview Experience - Montreal, Canada

March 1, 2013
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Two 30-minute one-on-one interviews by phone.

All took place the same day, within one hour of each other.

The first interview was easy, but the second was very aggressive and highly technical.

I was not well prepared and was caught off guard.

Questions

Object-oriented concepts, such as inheritance and polymorphism. Some were basic, while others were more advanced, covering OO internal implementation.

Many questions were about data formats like tables, lists, and hashes, discussing their pros and cons, internal implementation, and performance.

One puzzle to solve was relatively easy.

Multithreaded concepts, such as deadlocks and how to avoid them.
