Pros: Work-life balance. People are smart and friendly.
Cons: constant re-org and can be very political
3.0
A company built by engineers, for engineers
Software Engineer • Current Employee
Sunnyvale, California, United States
February 3, 2014
Pros: Because NetApp puts great emphasis on its "Great Place to Work" status, it offers some interesting but little-used perks: an in-house gym, 40 hours of paid volunteer time, etc.
Cons: Big company problems include ineffective IT and confusing HR policies, such as a forced unpaid company closure during the Christmas-New Year's break.

Treating people nice and friendly

Pros: Friendly working environment. People are candid. Culture matters.
Cons: Perks are not as good as those internet companies, but are kind of well played in the storage industry (or system-level company in general), maybe after VMware.
Cooperation with team players in Bangalore is kind of a pain sometimes due to the timezone. Plus, some of them are very unresponsive to working emails, making me think they're not working.
Investment in India might be too much and not exactly worth it in my opinion.
