Process

New Relic approached me several times during 2017, but I commented that I was not actively looking for a change. The inception was already made, however.

I interviewed for the first time in February 2018 just to get acquainted and leave the door open for future contacts, as the company and the product really appealed to me. I still had pending work in my former company at that time. We liked each other and kept the channel open.

On May 2018, we had another touch point. After some deliberation, I decided it was the right time for a new challenge, so we started the hiring process, which consisted of:

  • Phone screening - 30 min
  • Technical exercise - 6-8 hours
  • Technical interview (with two FE engineers) - 1h
  • Personal interview (with a lead, product owner, designer, and the Barcelona VP) - 2h

After a week, I received a formal offer to join the company, which I accepted.

Questions

Technical: generic basic, medium, and advanced CSS and JS topics.

Personal: general background, personality, and approach to life and work.
