After applying, I was invited via email by an internal recruiter to talk with the hiring manager via Zoom at a certain date and time, which I confirmed twice.
At that date and time, the hiring manager didn't show up. I figured some scheduling mishap had happened, so I emailed the recruiter.
She replied/apologized and asked to reschedule, which we did. I then finally did the interview, which was fine, and seemed like it would probably advance to the next stage.
I sent a note shortly after to the HM and the recruiter thanking them for their time and expressing my interest in continuing.
I then sent a follow-up note to the recruiter one week later, with no response, so I finally sent a note withdrawing myself as a candidate.
Eventually, I got an automated email with canned language indicating they were moving forward with someone else.
I have no problem with being rejected. Of course, companies have to reject a lot of applicants for any one position, but it just amazes me that people can't be bothered to extend a basic professional courtesy of writing even simple replies to candidate communications and either don't know or don't care how bad it makes them look.
Tell me about something complex you built and how you managed that.
