Software Engineer Interview Experience - Portland, Oregon

Process

Fairly normal process overall.

Meeting with members of the team, meeting with management, doing technical challenges, and a session dedicated for me to just ask questions.

The technical challenges were interesting and a little off the beaten path, at least for me, but I enjoyed doing them, which is a fairly rare sentiment I have when interviewing.

Questions

Technical Challenges:

  1. Design a simple RESTful API using a language I was familiar with.
  2. Design a simple RESTful API (identical to 1) using a language I had no experience with.
  3. Review an existing repository of code, describing what the application is doing and any important information about how it is set up.

Q: Describe one time where you failed. What did you learn? What could you have done better?

Q: Why are you joining / interested in New Relic?
