Hardware Developer Interview Experience - Santa Clara, California

Process

The interview process is long and slow overall. I went through about five phone interviews in a span of about four weeks.

The first phone screening was with HR, then the hiring manager, then a bunch of other senior engineers, and finally an on-site interview with four different engineers (some of whom I had spoken to on the phone before).

There are still a couple of weeks to wait for approval from upper management after the unofficial acceptance from the hiring manager. A background check was also performed.

Questions

No tricky questions overall; most of the material can be found online.

Very typical entry-level engineering questions, such as:

  • Solving a circuit using KVL/KCL
  • Simple MOSFET applications
  • Simple flip-flop applications
  • Drawing a simple state machine
  • Demonstrating basic understanding of circuit boards.
