Pros
  • Always a challenge and something interesting to work on.
  • Continual availability of new responsibilities to take on and grow into.
  • Work that's so interesting and varied that I have never wanted to leave to work elsewhere.
  • Great compensation and benefits. Great rewards, recognition, and acknowledgment for excellent performance and outstanding work. Very motivating!
  • Great people, with a pretty flat organizational structure, with redirection by peers regardless of level, and not a single prima donna. No naysayers or downtalkers polluting the culture.
  • Great collaborative atmosphere and lots of help available as you learn and grow.
  • Well-managed, smoothly running, efficient processes on engineering teams create the right amount of pressure, with never a dull moment.
  • Ample resources and opportunities to learn and grow.
  • With experience, you'll get increased access to executives and leaders to share ideas.
  • Really fun "hack weeks" and opportunities to invent and innovate.
  • Very good work-life balance. No questions asked personal days. PTO as you need it (merit-influenced) without having to accrue days, with no limit if you responsibly get your work done ahead of time and arrange for backup support while you're away.
  • Offices around the world, and opportunities to travel to amazing places for collaboration with teams abroad.
Cons
  • No good mass transit options to the San Mateo office location. Most people drive, some bike.

  • Sometimes you must work really early or really late hours due to meetings with international teams. But you can shift your work time around to accommodate.

  • Not a lot of on-campus amenities. Not a lot of catered food. You usually bring your own food and take care of personal business at home. It's not Google, but you're not pressured to "live at work."

Advice to Management
  • Keep running the company efficiently like a finely tuned machine.
  • Keep communicating openly with staff so everyone knows what's going on, even if they may not have a say.
  • The company seems really well managed. No big concerns here.
