Process

I applied online for the Software Engineering Intern position.

After 2-3 weeks, I received a link for a HackerRank Online Assessment. The assessment consisted of:

  • Technical MCQs: 7 questions (85 points). Some questions included negative marking (-1).
  • Coding Questions: 3 questions (100 + 100 + 20 points).
    • One question was based on a segment tree, which I solved successfully, scoring 100/100.
    • The second question was difficult and covered the topic of "Digit DP" (100 points).
    • The third question was easy and could be solved using a hash map (20 points).

I was confident I would get a call from the Postman recruiter but received a rejection email the next day. I solved all questions except the "Digit DP" question.

I would suggest the company consider asking more difficult questions; even the segment tree question was not of medium difficulty. The company heavily focuses on open-source development. There should be an option for candidates to choose between an Online Assessment or a "Take-Home Assignment."
